Life Is What Happens While You’re Busy Making Other Plans

Maybe you can relate to that quote by John Lennon. I sure can!
Most dads I know, including myself, are busy making plans… plans for our work, plans for our weekends, plans for our family, plans for our house, our yard, our money, and so on.
But while we’re busy making all these plans… well, life happens.
Diapers need to be changed. Attitudes have to be dealt with. Spouses need to be communicated with. Dishes need to be washed. Bathrooms need to be cleaned. Bills need to be paid. Grass needs to be mowed.
And before we know it, our kids are no longer infants, toddlers, or grade school age. They’re in high school. Or college. And then ready to launch out as young adults on their own life journey.
I was reminded of this once again last weekend when my 2nd oldest son somehow reached his 8th birthday. How did that happen?!? How I wish I could find the “pause” button to keep my children from growing up so fast.
So let me encourage you today, fellow dad, to live in the moment.
“Carpe Diem.” Seize the day.
Take joy in your daily routine. Seriously.
Appreciate where each of your children are right now at their stage of development. And live each day engaged with them.
And engaged with your wife.
It’s time now for me to go spend some time holding my 6-week-old son and enjoying his chubby-cheeks baby smile… because I’ll be celebrating HIS 8th birthday just a few short months from now too!

Idea: Write a hand-written heart-to-heart letter to them from Dad. They will keep it for a very long time, perhaps even after you’re gone.

WHAT WOULD THE WORLD BE LIKE IF EVERYONE WHERE LIKE YOU

Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a
church in Houston , Texas . Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion
to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he
discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much
change.. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'You'd better
give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it.' Then he thought, 'Oh,
forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount?
Anyway, the bus company gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept
it as a 'gift from God' and keep quiet.' When his stop came, he paused
momentarily at the door, and then he handed the quarter to the driver and
said, 'Here, you gave me too much change ..' The driver, with a smile,
replied, 'Aren't you the new preacher in town?'
Yes' he replied.
'Well, I have been thinking a lot lately about going somewhere to worship.
I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change. I'll
see you at church on Sunday.'
When the preacher stepped off of the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest
light pole, held on, and said, 'Oh God, I almost sold your Son for a
quarter.'
Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read. This is a really
scary example of how much people watch us as Christians, and will put us to
the test! Always be on guard -- and remember -- You carry the name of
Christ on your shoulders when you call yourself 'Christian.'
Watch your thoughts ; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits..
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

BUT THIS DAY I WANT US ALL TO THINK ABOUT NOW REALLY THINK ABOUT WHAT (GOD) HAS DONE FOR US AND THINK ABOUT WHAT (JESUS) DID, THE BIBLE SAID IN JOHN 3:16 FOR (GOD) SO LOVED THE WOULD THAT HE (GIVE) HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN (SON) THAT WHOEVER (BELIEVES) IN (HIM) SHOULD NOT(PERISH) BUT HAVE (EVERLASTING LIFE). NOW (JESUS) THE ONLY (SON) IN MATTHEW 26:39 MY FATHER IF IT BE POSSIBLE LET THIS CUP PASS FROM ME (JESUS) NEVERTHELESS NOT AS I WILL (JESUS) BUT AS YOU WILL (GOD) JESUS DID NOT WANT TO DIE BUT IF THE FATHER DID HE WAS WILLING TO DO SO. RECEIVING ONLY WHAT GOD CAN GIVE "A man can receive only what is given him from heaven" (John 3:27).
John the Baptist was in the business of bringing sinners to the place of repentance by baptizing them and teaching them about the coming Messiah. Over time, he had developed quite a customer base of disciples. Yet when the promised Messiah showed up-the fulfillment of John's business plan—true to form, his coworkers (or disciples) went to John to complain that the one he had testified about was stealing all of his customers. "Rabbi," they said, "that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan . . . well, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him" (John 3:26). John's response showed clearly he understood his purpose and role in life in the above verse.
John understood that we receive by understanding our purpose and what God desires us to receive in light of our purpose. We need not worry about what others receive, only if we are receiving what God wants us to receive. Many of us try to receive things God never intended us to receive or be someone God never intended us to be.
A story is told about F. B. Meyer, the great Bible teacher and pastor who lived a century ago. He was pasturing a church when he began to notice that attendance was dropping. This continued until he finally asked some members of his congregation one Sunday morning why they thought this was happening. A member suggested, "It is because of the new church down the road. The young preacher has everyone talking and many are going to hear him speak." The young preacher's name was Charles Spurgeon.
Meyer, rather than seeking to discourage this development, exhorted his entire congregation to join him and go participate in seeing this "move of God," as he described it to them. "If this be happening, then God must be at work." Meyer, like John the Baptist, understood the principle of receiving from God and was not threatened by the new competition in town. Instead, he joined it.

A HEAVENLY STRATEGIC PLANNING SESSION
And the Lord said, 'Who will entice Ahab into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?' One suggested this, and another that. - 1 Kings 22:20
There are few times we get a glimpse of what goes on in Heaven. Here is one instance when the angels were conferring with the Lord about the judgment of King Ahab for his sin and who was going to set up Ahab for this judgment.
If God wanted to use you to impact your world for Jesus Christ, what circumstances would have to be created in order for you to respond to His call? Would prospering you materially encourage you to this end? Would a major change in what you are presently doing be necessary? What would your response be should God and the angels conclude that the only way to move you into a position of fulfilling God's purposes was to remove some things that might be very dear to you? Would you agree with their plan if you knew this would be the only way you would achieve the purposes for which God made you? Hard questions, aren't they?
This is the very thing God does in many who have been called for a special mission. Moses had to be stripped of his royal position in the family of Egypt and sit in the desert for 40 years. The apostle Paul had to be knocked off his horse, blinded, and receive a personal visitation from Jesus. The 12 disciples had to leave their jobs for three years to follow Christ. Imagine what kind of disruption this had on their lives. There are many examples of God bringing major upheaval in the lives of those He called for His purposes. Why?
The reason is that we do not seek God with a whole heart in times of prosperity and comfort. Prosperity and comfort tend to breed complacency and satisfaction. It is rare to find the man or woman who seeks God with a whole heart who does so simply from a grateful heart. We often must have pain or crisis to motivate us. Eventually, that crisis bridges us to a new calling, and we embrace that calling if we are open to the Holy Spirit's work in us. We can actually thank God for the change that was required to get us to this place, but it is not without anguish of heart.
Would you be willing to sit in the strategic planning session for your life and agree with the plans God has for your life? Could you give God complete freedom to implement that plan, no matter the cost? Ask God to give you the grace and trust in His love for you to say "yes."BY OS HILLMAN...PDM

My Prayer
Dear God, I'm reminded today of that saying "here today, gone tomorrow." When we see tragedies beyond human control (like the Tsunami), horrors (like humans under the wrong control, killing their own children), and people dying from cancer and car wrecks, that reality is really brought home. I pray that in the days I have on this earth, you would give me the strength to stand firm. Let nothing move me from the tasks and purpose you have for me. Give me the desire to always give myself fully to your work, and remind me that my labor is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). And I pray for peace, comfort, and direction for those whose lives are changed by the reality of "here today, gone tomorrow." I pray that you keep your hands up on our lives so that you and only you can have complete control In the name of Jesus I pray, amen. ALL GLORY TO GOD

He sees it as her trying to take his position.Many men don't understand the value of the woman in her purpose as helper. So when a woman wants to be apart of what a man is doing,he thinks she's interfering.Yet she is the way she is because of why she was created. She wants to know what you're doing that she can't help with. What could be so secretive,so deep?Women who are kept at a distance by men keep on reaching out, trying to help,but the men see them as a nuisance and say, Mind your own business.This is a man's world find your place. Well her place is right next to you ,helping you.If she can't help you,she will help Something---or---Someone---Else. Some of these precious women are so talented so experienced in all kinds of things They have Excellent Educations are very Accomplished,and are ready to help their husbands or other males in any way they can,but the men get flippant with them because they don't understand God's plan.
