Michael Davis With The Mayor of Chicago Richard Dailey
Hi I wanted to tell you my story in hopes that it may help someone. My name is Michael Davis and I am a X-Felon
who has been blessed to learn that I needed and always will need Jesus Christ as my Savior. To start off I did
not always know this but, I thank God for the minister who God chose to place in prison ministry and in my life
Pastor David Massey. Nine years ago in the year 2000 I was sitting in my new car in Sears Department store
parking lot with quite a bit of drugs on me, see I was a drug dealer. The thing is I started using drugs myself and
even though I used I still was making a lot of money. To be exact I sold and used for about 20 years up until that
day in Sears parking lot, see it was something different about that day, that was the day that God did something
to my heart, as I was sitting there in my car I caught a glimpse of myself in the rear view mirror and all I saw was evil,
and in my heart and with a groan from my throat I asked myself what happened to that little boy my mother raised
with so much love and respect, because he got lost somewhere inside, and with tears in my eyes like a waterfall
I cried out to God and said Father please help me I’m tired of living like this, and as I was wiping the tears from
my eyes I looked up and the police were sitting in front of my car. My first thought was no not like this Lord, but
I found out that God knows the best way to rescue His children. This is when I got kind of scared the police found
the drugs and they were all talking and laughing like we got us one and they took me to the station all the while
saying you’re going down and you’re gonna do a lot of time, but believe it or not God gave me a great sense of peace
in this situation. I was processed and taken to cook county jail and placed in division 6 in general population, and you
could never guess what happened three days later, the guard came on the deck and called my last name and said
Davis, when I heard this I was like here I am what have I done now I’m in jail and the guard said pack it up you’re
going to the Christian Deck, I said what! he said you’re going to the Christian Deck, now right at this moment you
can’t imagine what is going through my mind, I’m like you can’t be serious . What is a Christian Deck in jail? He said
come on you’ll see, it was division 6 -1D and when I got there it was a deck that had no television, card playing, nothing
at all except bible study, prayer, and fellowship. This is where it really starts to become clear that God wanted me more
than I wanted Him. See I did not understand what God was doing until I met the man God was bringing into my life to
help me see that God was getting me in and to a place where He could be alone with me and I would be still, and the
person God chose to use was and still is my best friend and spiritual father Pastor David Massey. I met Pastor Massey
2 months after I was sent to this deck, and it was a blessing because this was a man who understood what it meant
to forgive and be forgiven. Pastor Massey helped me to understand that a lot of times even Christians mess up
sometimes with knowledge and ,sometimes without knowledge, but what he taught me is to not make excuses and
don’t try to shift the blame for your mistakes learn from them, and as you learn and pay close attention you will even
learn things about yourself that you probably didn’t even know. Basically what I’m trying to say is I’ve watched this man
of God closely for 9 years and he has been faithful to God and the ministry God has given him. For me and a few others
I’ve met who were locked up this man has played a major part in our relationship with Christ Jesus, growing in wisdom,
and most of all love. Remember Jesus said this is how they will know you are my disciples by how you love one
another John13:34-35, and the greatest of these is love and love never fails. I love you Pastor David Massey from a
soul you
helped snatch from the fire me Michael Davis. P.S. Thank you Jesus
